is for those who wish to manage carbon dioxide emissions in the future
when a carbon tax or the equivalent is in place.
Overview of the
Graduate Certificate in Greenhouse Gas Mitigation
(Graduate School of Engineering, University of Sydney)
Complying with the new regime for carbon dioxide emissions will
involve Australian firms and instrumentalities in considerable expenditure
of resources. It will also provide opportunities to produce income
from new services and products as well as increase competitive advantage.
The University of Sydney will offer a new Certificate designed for the
busy Professional who wishes to obtain skills in the climate area.
The course will expose students to world authorities such as Prof R W Bilger, University of Sydney, Dr Ian S F Jones, Earth Ocean & Space, Dr Kelly Thambimuthu, Chairperson of the IEA Greenhouse Gas R&D program, Prof T Sato, University of Tokyo, Dr Peter Coppin, CSIRO wind power, and David Rossiter, Regulator, Renewable Energy.
The core course will include extensive notes (draft of a new book) on mitigation not available in any other form at present Graduates will have a significant competitive advantage in this new commercial activity.
Entry requirement: Appropriate degree
Credit requirements: 24 credits (1 credit = 6 hrs contact)
Residence: 3 months full time (or multi year)
The course attendance is on Saturdays, evenings or in concentrated
modules to facilitate work release. Some modules have assignments
available on the World Wide Web and allow submission of assignments by
email.
Cost: $6,000 (surcharge for international students)
Outcomes: Holders of the Graduate Certificate will be able to manage the costs of meeting Greenhouse emission limits.
Fees scholarships: There are a limited number of scholarships for those
in financial need.
